Target-driven development of materials and processes.
The focus of material design workgroup is to develop novel solutions or qualitatively improve already existing ones for applications requiring specific properties from materials. While the main focus has been on various polymeric materials, others have had their fair share.
Naturally, material characterization goes hand-in-hand with the development, therefore, various common, but also custom characterization methods are applied.
In order to facilitate the real-world use of novel or improved materials, scalable processes are being developed for the potential (industrial) fabrication.

Enterprise relations
We are always open to collaboration with companies, either in developing new solutions or in analyzing and trouble-shooting products or processes. Through large and small collaboration projects, we drive to bring our scientific minds, methods and tools to serve the enterprise and to add value to the society.

Research
Development of stimuli-responsive polymeric materials for various sensor and actuator applications has been the main focus of our research.
